The "Remembering History, Forging the Future" Doolittle Raid Rescue-themed image exhibition opened its doors at the Stilwell Museum in Chongqing on Nov 28 and will run until Dec 28, marking the sixth and final stop of its 2025 national tour in China.

The exhibition has previously been displayed at overseas venues including the USS Hornet Museum in San Francisco and other institutions commemorating wartime efforts, attracting crowds of visitors.

In 1942, after a daring bombing raid on Japan, 75 US airmen led by Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle were forced to bail out or crash-land in China after running out of fuel. Chinese people rescued 64 of them, with 51 regrouping in Quzhou, Zhejiang province before heading to Chongqing to recuperate and later join missions like the "Hump" airlift operations.

Marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931–45) and the World Anti-Fascist War, the exhibition has toured Nanjing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, and other cities since July.

The Chongqing exhibit features nearly 80 historical photos, vividly recounting the joint rescue efforts and underscoring the deep wartime friendship between the Chinese and US people.

In August, the exhibition was displayed at the Chinese Embassy in the United States in Washington, D.C., and the Chinese Consulate General in New York, highlighting shared historical ties. On Nov 25, it was also showcased at the 2025 Kuliang Forum in New York.
