The third Langkawi Goodwill Games Open International for the Disabled was held from Sept 13 to 20 in Langkawi, Malaysia, featuring 40 teams and over 120 athletes from eight countries and regions — including China, Thailand, South Korea, Singapore, India, Australia, and Malaysia.

The boccia competition was categorized based on athletes' physical conditions, with individual, pair, and three-person team events in both physical and visual impairment groups.

Player Song Jinqi from Quzhou city in East China's Zhejiang province and his teammates, members of the Chinese team, won the championship in the three-person team event of the visual impairment category.

The Chinese team excelled, demonstrating formidable strength and resilience. The team also won a silver in the pair event of the visual impairment category.

Remarkably, the core members of the Chinese team were selected from the local boccia team of Quzhou. This team, emerging in domestic competitions, made an impressive international debut, exemplifying their resilience.

"We are thrilled to win the championship, and this honor belongs to the entire team," said Song.

"Each match was challenging, and especially for athletes with visual impairments, competing requires complete trust in teammates," he added.
