In Changshan county, Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, manufacturer Zhejiang Chuangjian Kitchenware Company is making use of digital manufacturing to produce high-quality Moka pots for both international and domestic markets.

The Moka pots, popular in Europe and Latin America and known as "Italian drip pots" in the United States, are octagonal stove-top coffee makers.

For 22 years, the company has specialized in manufacturing Moka pots, producing over 4.5 million units annually, with exports surpassing 3.1 million units in 2024.

Hu Liansheng, chairman of the company, underscored the stringent quality demands of overseas clients. They require flawless metal surfaces and precision measurements within 0.1 millimeters.

To meet these standards, the company invested over 20 million yuan ($2.8 million) in automation after relocating to Changshan in 2013. This investment included automated die-casting lines and polishing robots, boosting production efficiency by 33 percent and achieving a 99.3 percent product qualification rate.

Now, the company manufactures for high-end brands like Italy's Alessi, with annual sales growing steadily by 12 percent.

Additionally, the company has adapted its products for domestic consumers, such as developing a patented cooling module for ease of use. Its own brand called Kitchencj has gained traction both online and offline, with online sales reaching 21 million yuan in 2024.

By mastering both international and domestic markets, Zhejiang Chuangjian has captured 60 percent of China's Moka pot market in just four years.
