This May, as the loquats ripen on the branches, Xin'an Street in Kecheng district, Quzhou, Zhejiang province has lined up a raft of stalls selling the seasonal delight, transforming it into a bustling marketplace.

Over the past 20 years, fruit farmers from Qujiang district have brought their dewy, freshly picked loquats to the streets of Kecheng district, marking the start of this beloved local custom.

This year, Xin'an Street has been designed as a loquat market, running to the end of May. Nearby, the community's service stations, staffed by SF Express and China Post, are providing packaging and shipping services, ensuring that both locals and tourists can send these juicy delights to loved ones.

Now, the land surrounding Shamaoshan village — in Zhaoxian town, Changshan county, Quzhou — is a resplendent, golden sea of loquats. Naturally ripened, the fruit exudes a rich, heady aroma.

Shamaoshan village is a popular spot for loquat picking, and on May 17-18, it will host a special cultural and tourism market. Visitors can enjoy free tastings and take advantage of the on-site packing and mailing services for their purchases.

The market will also feature hands-on rural crafts, such as loquat leaf weaving, loquat seed carving and loquat-themed paintings. Regular folk music performances will add to the lively, pastoral atmosphere.
