East China's Zhejiang province is taking a decisive step to strengthen its foreign trade sector by introducing a targeted legal services initiative, Tide News reported on March 28.

The Department of Justice of Zhejiang Province has rolled out the "Measures to Strengthen Legal Services for Stable Foreign Trade Development" to address the specific legal needs of businesses engaged in international trade.

Key to this initiative is the development of specialized service platforms aimed at expanding international markets, enhancing cross-border e-commerce, and building overseas warehouses.

These platforms include overseas legal service centers, a maritime and commercial legal service alliance, and legal service clusters, which will pool resources from law firms, notaries, forensic experts, and arbitration services.

Zhejiang will issue provincial guidelines that focus on international trade and overseas investments, offering businesses legal risk alerts and strategies.

In service provision, Zhejiang is launching programs like the "Zhejiang Foreign Trade Legal Aid Month", encouraging law firms to establish branches abroad to protect the legal rights of companies. The province is also simplifying notarization processes and enhancing arbitration to resolve cross-border trade disputes effectively.

Zhejiang is bolstering legal frameworks to support business operations across trade, healthcare, travel, communication, tourism, and payments. The province is also investing in talent development, with specialized training programs for international legal professionals.

In March, Zhejiang launched a leadership program aimed at developing 100 top-tier international lawyers in commercial dispute resolution over the next five years.
