The Quzhou Airport in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, is undergoing a major expansion and renovation, with civil aviation facilities currently being upgraded, according to Tide News on Nov 11.

The city of Quzhou, located at the junction of Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, and Jiangxi provinces, boasts a unique location and strong regional influence.

Aiming to establish itself as an aviation hub for these four provinces, Quzhou Airport is investing approximately 210 million yuan ($29.13 million) to expand and renovate, which focuses on enhancing the apron, terminal, and air traffic control facilities and is designed to handle an annual passenger throughput of 1 million.

"By 2035, Quzhou plans to have connections to over 35 cities and rank among the top 100 airports nationwide," said an official from Quzhou's transportation bureau.

In recent years, Quzhou has accelerated its aviation infrastructure development and the low-altitude economy. With the rapid growth of civil aviation, Quzhou Airport currently operates 25 routes, covering major cities such as Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou.

Statistics show that this year, Quzhou handled nearly 10,000 flights, with a passenger throughput of over 880,000, marking a 17.4 percent increase compared to previous years, which one day is expected to exceed 1 million.

Additionally, Quzhou is currently constructing five general aviation airports.
