Quzhou lights the way with ultra-thin flexible glass milestone
The ignition ceremony for Chuangrou Display's ultra-thin flexible glass project took place in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, on Sept 28.
This milestone positions Quzhou as a strategic hub for the photonics and display materials industry, setting the stage for upstream and downstream growth within the sector.
Ultra-thin flexible glass is a type of glass that is manufactured to be extremely thin, often less than 100 micrometers thick, allowing it to bend without breaking. It combines the durability and scratch resistance of traditional glass with the flexibility of plastic, making it ideal for applications like foldable displays and wearable technology.
Nobel laureate and foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Konstantin Novoselov, was among the distinguished guests attending the ceremony.
During the event, company representatives emphasized that the rapid completion and ignition of the project added to their confidence in Quzhou as a fertile ground for growth. They pledged to adhere to the highest industry standards and leverage cutting-edge technology and expertise to expand and strengthen the Quzhou base.
The project, which was signed in June last year and broke ground in December, began operations in just nine months.
