World Weiqi Open Tournament held in Quzhou

The second "Quzhou Lanke Cup" World Weiqi Open Tournament continued with the second game of a best-of-three final in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, on Aug 21.

After a tense four-and-a-half-hour match, South Korean player Shin Jin-seo, playing black, defeated Chinese player Gu Zihao in 191 moves, clinching his seventh world Weiqi championship.

In a post-match interview, Shin Jin-seo expressed that winning this title was no easy feat, describing the competition as filled with tension and challenges.

Hosted by the Chinese Weiqi Association and the Quzhou municipal government, the "Quzhou Lanke Cup" World Weiqi Open is the first annual global Weiqi tournament held in China. It aims to provide a high-level platform for Weiqi masters worldwide to compete.

The inaugural event was held in 2023, where Shin Jin-seo and Gu Zihao first met in the finals, with Gu staging a comeback to win the championship.
