China's U19 men's basketball team secured a 90-83 victory over Germany on the final day of the 2024 Youth International Men's Basketball Challenge in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, on July 26.

The Qujiang Sports Stadium echoed with the cheers and chants of nearly 4,000 fans. China's starting lineup featured Duan Ruiqi, Yang Yi, Ma Haosen, Guo Fengwei, and Zhang Boyuan.

From the opening whistle, the Chinese team quickly found their rhythm, with Zhang Boyuan converting an "and-one" to begin the offense. The team displayed excellent coordination. Their smooth shooting helped them close the first quarter with a 31-19 lead.

In the second quarter, Yang's smart playmaking drove the offense, with Ma and Chen frequently finding the basket. Yang showcased his skills with a layup, a three-pointer, and an assist, pushing the Chinese team to a 56-39 lead at halftime.

Though China's offensive efficiency dipped in the third quarter, their defense remained rock solid, keeping Germany at bay and maintaining a 72-56 lead.

In the fourth quarter, Germany applied full-court pressure and managed to reduce the deficit to single digits. However, China stayed composed, scoring consistently in the paint. A crucial three-pointer by Zhang in the final moments sealed the victory.

China finished the tournament with two wins and one loss, having defeated Serbia on the opening day before falling to Georgia.

This event marked Quzhou's first collaboration with the Chinese Basketball Association and its debut in hosting an international-level basketball competition.
