The Jin Yong Cultural and Art Week commenced in Mapeng village, Shiliang town, Kecheng district, Quzhou, on March 10, honoring the 100th anniversary of the birth of the renowned martial arts writer.

Louis Cha Leung-yung (1924-2018), widely known by his pen name Jin Yong, shares a profound bond with Quzhou.

In 1940, he began his studies at the Quzhou No. 1 High School. Two transformative years in this historic locale left an indelible mark on his creative spirit, with the essence of Quzhou serving as a muse for his legendary literary works.

Drawing together over 500 enthusiasts from Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, and local residents, the event offered a rich cultural celebration.

"Jin Yong's martial arts realm has sculpted a spirit of honor and patriotism, profoundly influencing my own convictions. Through Jin Yong's works, overseas Chinese have unearthed a deep sense of identity," shared an attendee.

Jin Yong's martial arts legacy shines as a beacon on Kecheng district's cultural landscape, extending a warm embrace to over 5000 international guests, foreign scholars, and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan over the past three years.
