Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, Zhejiang province has in recent years been ramping up efforts to create a more comfortable living environment for the elderly and enable more seniors to enjoy professional and personalized care services.

As of the end of 2023, the city had successfully completed renovation and expansion projects for nine public elderly care institutions. Among these, the elderly care center in Xiakou town stands out as one of the exceptional refurbished nursing homes.

The center now includes two new apartment buildings and a rehabilitation center, all equipped with modern facilities such as rehabilitation assessment rooms, physiotherapy rooms, and music and movement activity areas.

The center has provided housing for a total of 44 elderly individuals from the town and its surrounding areas, including 39 in urgent need and five from low-income families.

Chai Minghua, the center's director, highlighted, "Since the renovation, we have seen a significant increase in our resident population," underscoring the impact of upgraded infrastructure on enhancing the quality of care in elderly facilities.

Authorities are also committed to improving the management of public elderly care institutions, ensuring that elderly individuals from extremely poor and low-income families can afford and access high-quality nursing homes.
