Qujiang district in Quzhou, Zhejiang province has pioneered an integrated development model spanning primary, secondary, and tertiary industries, aimed at fostering common prosperity.

This model emphasizes aquaculture, grain cultivation, and leisure cultural tourism, showcasing the harmonious integration of rice cultivation and fish breeding.

The district has established a 1,400-mu (93.33 hectares) paddy field for rice and shrimp intercropping, a 150-mu paddy field for rice and snail symbiosis, and a 100-mu field for the symbiotic cultivation of water chestnut and snails.

This innovative approach embodies a "dual-use of water, double harvest from one field" production model, leading to significant outcomes such as promoting rice cultivation through fishing, stabilizing grain production, enhancing efficiency, and promoting ecological environmental protection.

Underpinning this model is a comprehensive management platform and intelligent operational terminals, integrating full-process production monitoring, underwater life sensing, online water quality monitoring, and other systems, thereby achieving intelligent and refined management throughout the entire process.

Through digital management, labor costs have been reduced by 10 percent while production efficiency has surged by 30 percent.

In 2023, farmers witnessed a remarkable increase in their annual income from planting and breeding, amounting to 1.15 million yuan ($159,758.44).

Additionally, land rental income for farmers soared by 1.28 million yuan, and collective income from village shares rose by 440,000 yuan.

Moreover, the district welcomed over 90,000 visitors last year, generating a tourism income exceeding 5 million yuan.
