Quzhou's GDP up 6.8% in 2023

Quzhou's GDP surged by 6.8 percent in 2023, reaching 212.52 billion yuan ($29.72 billion), as per the statistics released by the city's bureau of statistics on Jan 24.

The added values of the city's primary, secondary, and tertiary industries experienced notable growth, amounting to 9.12 billion yuan, 90.87 billion yuan, and 112.53 billion yuan, representing increases of 5.1 percent, 6.8 percent, and 7 percent, respectively.

The total output value of agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery industries in the city stood at 15.25 billion yuan, marking a 5.2 percent year-on-year increase.

The added value of large-scale industries in Quzhou totaled 62.88 billion yuan, reflecting a substantial 7.8 percent year-on-year increase. Key industries such as electrical machinery and equipment manufacturing witnessed a remarkable 94.5 percent growth, while the non-ferrous metal smelting and processing industry expanded by 41.4 percent.

The city's service industry experienced a 7 percent year-on-year increase in added value in 2023. Notably, wholesale and retail trade, accommodation and catering services, financial services, and information transmission, software, and information technology services surged by 11.7 percent, 12 percent, 11.2 percent, and 21.7 percent, respectively.

Furthermore, the total retail sales of consumer goods in Quzhou achieved 97.08 billion yuan, marking a substantial 10.6 percent year-on-year increase.

On the income front, the per capita disposable income of urban residents in the city saw a 5.4 percent year-on-year increase, reaching 60,592 yuan, while the figure for rural residents rose by 8 percent to 33,993 yuan.
