Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, has recently taken proactive measures to strengthen its sports industry.

The local authorities have allocated increased resources to upgrade the city's sports infrastructure and facilities. Notably, the completion of the Hushan Sports Park, which opened to the public on Aug 8, 2023, stands out as a significant achievement.

Covering an area of 400 mu (26.67 hectares), the sports park encompasses the main stadium, training facilities, a public fitness center, athlete accommodation, roads, landscaping, and supporting infrastructure.

Additionally, Jiangshan has established a national weightlifting training base within the park, designated as the training facility for weightlifting events for the Hangzhou Asian Games.

Emphasizing the hosting of large-scale sports events, the city has successfully created distinctive sports brands such as Jiangshan Weightlifting, Farmers' Games, and Beautiful Countryside Climbing Series.

Over 40 national-level sports events, including the National Men's Weightlifting Championships, the National Aerobics Championships, and the National New Year's Hiking and Fitness Activities, have been successfully hosted.

These events play a crucial role in authorities' efforts to deepen the integration of culture and tourism, injecting vitality into the city's sports industry.

The sports service industry has thrived in Jiangshan due to its robust sports tourism and fitness training services, along with a profitable sporting goods manufacturing industry centered on badminton and fitness equipment. This success has contributed to a comprehensive economic output of nearly 500 million yuan ($70.04 million) for the city.

Looking ahead, Jiangshan aims to leverage the sports industry's role in promoting diversified economic development. The city is focusing on enhancing top-level design, optimizing spatial layout, and actively promoting the integrated development of iconic cultural tourism and sports industries to enhance their strength and competitiveness.
