Xianxia Ancient Path, Taiyangshan Ancient Path, Red Army Ancient Path, and Guci Ancient Path in Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, have been recognized as provincial first-class ancient trails, the Zhejiang Provincial Forestry Bureau announced on Dec 11.
Located at the junction of Zhejiang, Fujian, and Jiangxi provinces, Jiangshan is known as the "southeastern gateway to Fujian". Its unique geographical location has made Jiangshan an important land route for the Silk Road, while its diverse geological landscape has resulted in a meandering and well-developed network of ancient paths.
There are 23 well-preserved ancient paths in Jiangshan, spanning across 11 townships and sub- districts.
Ancient paths are valuable pieces of culture left by our ancestors, and they have not only become pathways for people today to learn about the past, but also great places to hike, seek tranquility, and explore scenic wonders, said a local official.
