The 2024 National New Year's Hiking event will be held in Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, Zhejiang province on Jan 1, 2024, the General Administration of Sport announced on Dec 8.

This is the eighth time that Jiangshan has hosted the event. China Media Group will broadcast the main event live on site.

The event is a traditional nationwide fitness brand activity promoted by the General Administration of Sport. Since its first edition in 1996, it has become an important group activity to welcome the New Year.

The event is held every New Year's Day in various parts of the country and is the first nationwide fitness activity of the year, symbolizing a new beginning and a new atmosphere for the new year.
As the only main venue for the event, Jiangshan will hold activities such as the New Year's Eve fluorescence sports festival, mass hill climbing, and a national fitness exhibition.

The activities will integrate Jiangshan's distinctive culture, intangible cultural heritage items, special agricultural products, and food displays, fully showcasing the characteristics and highlights of "sports + city", "sports + tourism", "sports + culture", "sports + beautiful countryside" and making the event a comprehensive platform for showcasing the achievements of Jiangshan's economic and social development.
