Sports Time | Quzhou athlete wins gold medal in swimming

Yu Yiting, a rising star from Changshan county, Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, secured a gold medal in the women's 200m individual medley final at the Hangzhou Asian Games, on Sept 25.
Also competing was Ye Shiwen from Hangzhou, Zhejiang, who won a silver medal with a time of 2 minutes and 10.34 seconds.
In the final, Yu pulled ahead of competitors in the first 50 meters and won the championship with a time of 2 minutes and 7.75 seconds, breaking the match record.
In a post-match interview, Yu said that the Hangzhou Asian Games were being held in her hometown and she would do her best in every race.
Yu is known for her comprehensive skills and explosive power. She mainly competes in individual medley events, especially in the women's 200m and 400m individual medley events, where she is already a top competitor.
In 2023, she has triumphed with gold medals in both the women's 200m individual medley at the National Swimming Championships and the Spring National Swimming Championships, as well as in the women's 400m individual medley at the Spring National Swimming Championships.
In the next few days, Yu will also compete in the women's 400m individual medley and women's 50m butterfly events. This 18-year-old girl is expected to soar to new heights in the Hangzhou Asian Games.
