A batch of Changshan grapefruit, a designated fruit for the Hangzhou Asian Games, was delivered to the Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee on Sept 19.

The grapefruit comes from Zhejiang Aijia Fruit and Vegetable Development Co Ltd, which has 500 mu (33.33 hectares) of organic grapefruit plantations in Changshan county, Quzhou, Zhejiang province.

Qin Hanfen, chairman of Aijia, said that she hopes that the Hangzhou Asian Games will increase the popularity of Changshan grapefruit.

This batch of grapefruit was picked last November and still has an excellent taste due to preservation efforts. Changshan grapefruit is for its various vitamins and 16 amino acids required by the human body, as well as phosphorus, potassium, iron, calcium and other elements.

Changshan grapefruit has a history of more than 600 years and is a "golden fruit" for local people to increase their incomes. Changshan county is home to more than 100,000 mu of grapefruit, and the grapefruit has been developed into more than 80 products, such as grapefruit tea, candied fruit and juice.

More than 100,000 farmers in the county are engaged in the growing, processing and sale of grapefruit. Last year, the county's grapefruit industry brought in more than 1 billion yuan ($137 million) for farmers.
