Quzhou village explores ways to achieve rural vitalization

More than 30 young people of Chinese ethnicity from countries such as Denmark and Spain embarked on a one-day summer camp tour of Qingyang village, Shimen town, Jiangshan, a county-level city of Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province, on July 11.
In the village, they learned about the thousand-year history and culture of Mao's family.
In recent years, Qingyang village has relied on its unique Mao's family culture to develop tourism and achieve rural vitalization. It is a national 5A-level scenic spot village and a popular attraction. Tourists from all over the country visit Qingyang village every day, with an average of 1,200 people visiting per day.
In 2022, the village collective transformed some idle space into an academy, which currently has a collection of more than 5,000 books.
In addition, Qingyang village created a workshop in cooperation with an operating company and villagers to sell chili sauce.
The village current grows chili and other foodstuffs over an area of more than 600 mu (40 hectares). The village collective purchases foodstuffs from villagers and processes them into chili sauce for sale to tourists. This is expected to increase villagers' collective income by 1 million yuan ($140,055).
Last year, Qingyang village had a collective income of 1.02 million yuan and a per capita income of 35,000 yuan.
