Greening the Games | Juhua Group donates 60,000 tons of CER to Asian Games
The production department of Juhua Group in Quzhou recently donated 60,000 metric tons of CER to the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee, local media reported on July 26.
CER stands for certified emission reduction. To help with the carbon neutrality work for the Asian Games, in May Juhua decided to make donations of carbon offset targets.
The types of carbon offset targets required include carbon emission quotas, CCER (refers to emission reduction activities conducted by companies voluntarily that are certified by the Chinese government), carbon inclusion (an incentive mechanism that values environmentally-friendly practices of the public, communities and micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in daily consumption), and carbon credits (refers to greenhouse gas emissions reductions from Chinese projects issued under the United Nations' Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) or other emissions-reduction mechanisms).
Juhua Group currently has two HFC-23 decomposition CDM projects, both of which meet the requirements for carbon offset targets of the Asian Games.
"Donating carbon offset targets to the Asian Games will help strengthen the company's green and low-carbon image," said the responsible person at the company.
