Fighting for Victory | Quzhou to shine at Asian Games
June 15 marked the beginning of the 100-day countdown to the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, which will be held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province from Sept 23 to Oct 8. Quzhou, another city in Zhejiang, is gearing up for the sports extravaganza.
A number of athletes from Quzhou will take part in the event, including Huang Yaqiong and Yu Yiting.
Huang and her partner Zheng Siwei are stepping up preparations and looking forward to giving it their all on the highest competitive stage in Asia.
Huang and Zheng won the 2023 BWF Sudirman Cup on May 21. In the last Asian Games in Jakarta, they won the badminton mixed doubles championship.
Yu, a young swimmer from Changshan county, is expected to make a good showing at the Games. The 18-year-old has performed well in various major competitions and even broke the national record for the women's 100m individual medley.
For Quzhou, the birthplace of world Go, the inclusion of Go in the Hangzhou Asian Games is of great significance.
Quzhou has been focusing on strengthening its Go culture in recent years, including issuing the first local Go regulations in China and establishing the Quzhou International Go Culture Exchange Center.
Farmer painters such as Zheng Limin, Mao Meixian, Guo Yaosheng, Zheng Weiliang and Yu Yunmei from Yudong village in Quzhou created a 6-meter-long and 0.8-meter-wide scroll painting to welcome and express their high hopes for the Games.
In addition, Sanquwei, Changshan grapefruit and other Quzhou delicacies and special agricultural products will be featured at the Games.
