In recent days, villagers on the Yinhao Huanggang Tea Plantation in Hejia township, Changshan county, Quzhou, Zhejiang province, have been busy pruning tea trees and processing tea leaves.

"The abundant natural resources of my hometown aid in rural vitalization," said Wang Changfa, a tea grower in the village.

A few years ago, Wang tried to grow tea in Huanggang village and has since expanded the planting area to more than 300 mu (20 hectares).

Wang established the Yusheng Tea Factory to help elderly villagers earn an income. The factory has been developed into a professional cooperative that integrates tea planting, processing, sales and tourism. Its annual output value now exceeds 5 million yuan ($700,051).

The factory has developed and promoted a batch of new high-yield and high-quality varieties of tea leaves, bringing in income for more than 350 villagers.

In addition, Wang planted money-making fruits such as Dongkui waxberries and white loquats to improve the scenery of the tea plantation and bring in more money.

Wang's tea plantation currently boasts 12 kinds of tea machines and three fully automatic tea processing assembly lines with an annual output of 14 metric tons of tea leaves and an output value of more than 2 million yuan.

"The high-quality development of the tea industry would not be possible without technology." Next, Wang says he will focus on the integration of tea culture, the tea industry and tea technology and developing new business models to enhance the added value of the tea industry.
