Village-enterprise cooperation leads to common prosperity in Quzhou

Zhejiang Longyou Zaisengfang Medicinal Materials Development Co Ltd has cooperated with 10 villages in Hengshan town, Longyou county, Quzhou, Zhejiang province to grow of traditional Chinese medicinal plants.

Tianchi village is an ideal place to grow traditional Chinese medicinal plants due to its fertile soil. The company transferred more than 2,500 mu (166.67 hectares) of land from the village to grow over 10 kinds of Chinese herbal medicines, such as peony and sealwort.

The company is focusing on the Chinese medicine industry and created the Tianchi Medicinal Valley.

Nearly 200 villagers are working at the company's medicinal material base, receiving a salary of 3,000 yuan ($422) per month. Every villager can receive over 30,000 yuan in stable income per year.

In addition, villagers can earn a fixed income of 2,200 yuan per year from renting out their land.

There is a lot of potential for the consumption of Chinese medicinal materials, said Chen Delun, the company's general manager. "Our company is currently cooperating with five medical institutions, including the Shanghai International Medical Center, and the company is expected to achieve 220 million yuan in annual sales revenue."
