Honey exports in Quzhou up 12% in Jan-April

Updated :2023-06-01

Quzhou exported 374.8 metric tons of honey in the first four months of this year, an increase of 12 percent compared to the same period last year.

Jiangshan, a county-level city of Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province, is known as the largest beekeeping county and raw material distribution center for bee products in China.

The city's apiculture scale and economic benefits have ranked first among all counties and cities in China for the past 31 years. The city's royal jelly exports have ranked first in the country for many years.

A batch of 20 tons of natural honey made by Jiangshan Hengliang Bee Products Co Ltd will soon be sent overseas after customs inspection.

"The European Union is one of the main markets for our bee product exports. At the end of last year, the EU implemented stricter inspection standards for bee product exports. Under the guidance of customs, the company has carried out preparations and analysis and responded to the implementation of the new standards," said Zheng Haoliang, a higher-up at the company.

Quzhou Customs has been striving to strengthen the monitoring and testing of bee sources and honey products and improve the management of the bee breeding process, aiming to expand the brand benefits and influence of Jiangshan — "the hometown of Chinese bees".
