Nuria Pitarque, a Spanish expat, has lived in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, for almost nine years, and has a strong interest in Confucianism.
In 1999, when Nuria first came to China, she visited the Confucius Temple in Qufu, Shandong province. Last year, she participated in a tour in Quzhou held by the Quzhou Southern Confucianism Cultural Development Center.
In addition, Nuria met with Kong Lingli from the 76th generation of Confucius.
"Elementary school students in Quzhou can recite the Analects fluently! It's amazing!" Nuria said.
Cultures are all intertwined and interconnected. "There is a famous saying in Spain: Truth makes people free. This has something in common with the famous line in the Analects: Learning without thinking is useless, thinking without learning is perilous," she added.
