One of Quzhou Sanmax Technology Co Ltd's products, an intelligent caster used for supermarket shopping carts, sells at a price of $45 per piece abroad, while ordinary exported casters sell for only $2 per piece.

Lai Huanfang, the company's general manager, said that according to strict local shopping cart management rules, if a shopping cart is out of a parking range, the supermarket will be fined a hefty $100.

The caster, with an intelligent chip developed by the company, will automatically lock the shopping cart if it reaches the edge of the parking area.

The company sells many such high-value-added products.

Because of North America's dry weather, static electricity often occurs when people and shopping carts come into contact. "This anti-static caster is also $3 more expensive than ordinary exported products, selling for $5 per piece," added Lai.

The company's products are sold at well-known global chain supermarkets such as Home Depot and Walmart.

In the past 14 years, the number of employees at the company has grown from around 10 people to more than 120 people, with a daily production capacity of 30,000 pieces. The company's output value reached 90 million yuan ($12.95 million) in 2022.

"Last December, we spent more than 10 days inspecting Russian supermarkets and planned to enter the shopping cart market to further increase the added value of the company's products," said a higher-up at the company.
