New year mountain climbing event kicks off in Jiangshan
The National New Year Mountain Climbing and Fitness Conference was unveiled on Jan 1 in Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.
This is Jiangshan's 7th year hosting the event, which is the first nationwide fitness activity to be held in China every year.
On the first day of 2023, thousands of mountaineers wished for a healthy and happy 2023 by climbing Jianglang Mountain, a national 5A level scenic area in Jiangshan.
The climb spanned 9,300 meters with 6,185 steps.

In addition, activities such as frisbee, baseball, softball, fencing and bocci were held at the foot of Jianglang Mountain.

Wu Dajing, short track speed skating champion of the Winter Olympics, came to Jianglang Mountain to announce a national fitness initiative to national fitness enthusiasts while wishing everyone good luck.
A healthy body is necessary for hard work and a happy life, said Wu Dajing.
