3rd Cross-Straits Photography Culture Week kicks off in Jiangshan

A special event of the third Cross-Straits Photography Culture Week was launched in Nianbadu town of Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on Nov 3. 

More than 120 guests from both sides of the Taiwan Straits attended the event, during which a series of activities such as photo exhibitions and folk culture performances were held to showcase stories that took place in both Taiwan and Chinese mainland. 

Ninety-three photography works showcasing the natural landscapes of Nantou county in Taiwan and Jiangshan as well as stories about the Taiwan people starting businesses in Quzhou, were exhibited. 

Lu Guofeng, who comes from Taiwan's Taichung city and runs a cultural company in Quzhou, said he is happy to be able to witness the charming natural landscapes of his hometown. 

He added that the town, which features ancient streets, ancient residential houses and ancient buildings, is a renowned historical zone and a great place to take photos. 

He Rigen, deputy Party chief of Jiangshan, said that the local government will leverage the occasion to advance exchanges and cooperation between Taiwan and Chinese mainland. 

Fifteen villages from both sides of the Taiwan Straits have established friendships. 

Wu Zongqi, chairman emeritus of the Zhejiang Photographers Association, said photography plays an important role in promoting cross-Straits exchanges and he hopes that photographers from both sides of the Taiwan Straits can use photos to strengthen the cohesiveness of Chinese people.
