The grapefruit industry is one of the pillar industries of Changshan county in Quzhou, Zhejiang province. In recent years, Changshan has been focusing on the development of the deep processing products of the fruit.

Zhejiang Changshan Youxianggu Investment Management Co Ltd in Changshan county launched the new canning production line, costing more than 30 million yuan ($4.33 million), which can produce 36,000 bottles of double grapefruit juice per hour, local media reported on Aug 19.

The grapefruit juice from Youxiangu is a top-selling item at Hema Fresh (a fresh produce supermarket) and is often out of stock, said Luo Yun, deputy general manager of Hangzhou Hema Network technology Co Ltd.

Last year, Youxianggu invested 16 million yuan to upgrade the production line of the grapefruit juice and introduced advanced intelligent automatic assembly lines including feeding, premixing, filling and sterilization. The daily output of the single shift system can reach 30,000 boxes.

In the first half of this year, the company's output value reached 150 million yuan, according to Han Xiufeng, general manager of the company. To meet increasing market demands, the company increased investment and launched the second production line, increasing the daily output to 50,000 boxes.

The rise of deep processing and the extension of the industrial chain have brought in over 1 billion yuan for villagers.

In addition, driven by leading enterprises engaged in grapefruit production and processing in the city, the total output value of the county's grapefruit industry is expected to reach 3 billion yuan this year.
