​Early rice planting area in Quzhou exceeds 300,000 mu

The planting area for early rice in Quzhou, Zhejiang province expanded to 309,900 mu (20,660 hectares) this year, an increase of 23,300 mu compared with last year, according to the Quzhou agricultural and rural affairs bureau.

As of August 8, 278,700 mu of early rice had been harvested, accounting for 89.93 percent of the city's total. The harvest is expected to be completed in mid-August.

In addition, according to the output forecast and analysis of actual cutting and yield measurement data in various places, the average yield of early rice in the city is expected to reach 410 kilograms, an increase of about 5 percent over last year.

Meanwhile, current continuous cropping late rice has been planted over an area of 201,800 mu, and around 90 percent of the total has been planted.
