The sturgeon breeding and processing base located in Shishi township, Kecheng district, Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, ranks first in Asia in terms of caviar production.

Last year, the base produced about 180 metric tons of caviar, more than a third of the world's total.

The base was built by Quzhou Xunlong Aquatic Food Technology Co Ltd in April 2013 and is currently the largest sturgeon processing center in China, raising about 5,000 tons of sturgeon.

Kaluga Queen Caviar produced by the company has been served at many important occasions, including the G20 banquet and Oscar Awards Ceremony. It has also entered the supply chain of Lufthansa Airlines, one of Europe's largest airlines, for first-class meals.

In addition, due to the well-developed caviar industry in Shishi township, more than 150 local villagers have obtained jobs.

Li Yuelin, a 62-year-old resident of Gangyao village, earned nearly 100,000 yuan ($14,939.91) from breeding sturgeon last year, while Li Yaofu, with a larger breeding scale, earned 300,000 yuan.
