Yudong village pursues common prosperity

Yudong village in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, has been developing a farmer painting industry in pursuit of common prosperity, according to local media reports.

It has also developed related cultural and creative products and a tourism industry around the paintings.

The village has opened an online trading platform to sell farmers' paintings and copyrights via livestreams. In addition, it has cooperated with Zhejiang Wensli Group and the China Academy of Art to develop more than 90 kinds of cultural and creative derivatives, such as handicrafts, textiles and souvenirs.

The village currently has a total of 800 residents, including 326 farmers who can paint. In 2021, the output value of farmers' paintings and cultural and creative products in Yudong village exceeded 30 million yuan ($4.19 million), increasing its per capita income from 5,500 yuan to reach 40,300 yuan.

In addition, villagers' participation in rural cultural production helps enhance their cultural awareness, and more than 130 villagers have officially changed their profession to painter, designer, streamer or creator.
