​Xinjiang village increases incomes by planting trees

Xinjiang village in Kecheng district, Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, has promoted cherry blossom forest subscription activities to increase incomes for village collectives and villagers.

In March 2019, Xinjiang village launched the cherry blossom forest subscription activity for individuals and enterprises, which increased the collective village income by more than 600,000 yuan ($94,349.75) that year.

Since 2020, 3,500 cherry blossom trees have been purchased by individuals and enterprises, generating 1.2 million yuan in income for Xinjiang village.

On March 12, Zhejiang Juhua Co Ltd purchased five cherry blossom trees worth 2,500 yuan in Xinjiang village to celebrate the 44th China Tree-Planting Day. The village sold 48 cherry trees for a total of 24,000 yuan that day.

The village has so far planted 12,000 cherry trees of 60 varieties. In 2020, the village was successfully designated a 3A-level tourist village.
