Quzhou readies for upcoming Spring Festival travel rush

The official annual Spring Festival transport season in China started on Jan 17 and will last until Feb 25. With two weeks to go before lunar New Year's Eve, Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province has planned well for the upcoming Spring Festival travel rush, according to local media reports on Jan 12.

During the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush in 2022, Quzhou is expecting a total of 152,000 passengers to be transported by road, down 2.8 percent from 2021 and 11.2 percent from 2020. The peak passenger flow is expected to occur on Jan 29 (two days before the New Year's Eve), with the city's daily average number of passengers reaching 6,500.

Quzhou Station is expected to send off a total of 280,000 passengers, up 8.94 percent from 257,000 in 2021 and 38 percent from 173,000 in 2020. The peak passenger flow is expected to be 12,500 on Feb 16, the day after the Lantern Festival.

Quzhou Airport is expected to handle 54,142 passengers, an increase of 72.36 percent compared with 2021. A total of 712 flights are expected to be carried out, an increase of 22.83 percent over 2021.
