A group of talented primary students in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, recently finished their 15-meter-long painting, which depicts their hometown – Quzhou, according to local media reports on Jan 14.

The scroll painting mainly depicts the landmark in Quzhou – Shuitingmen historic and cultural block – applying the "cavalier perspective theory" utilized in Along the River during the Tomb Sweeping Festival, a famous scroll painting by Zhang Zeduan of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). It took nearly one month for 40 primary school students in an art club to finish the painting.

In order to finish the painting, Teacher Zhou Wenguang of the art club asked the students to understand the history and culture of the old street and the characteristics of the ancient buildings in their early stage. They slowly searched for the ancient traces along the old street and learned about the street style, the history of the ancestral temples, and the characteristics of the old buildings.

The Shuitingmen historic and cultural block is considered as a prime choice for tourists where they can experience local culture, admire exquisite handicrafts, and fully enjoy local food specialties with Quzhou characteristics.
