Quzhou becomes 'A Model City of Virtue'
When the city of Quzhou – located in East China's Zhejiang province – incorporated the concept of the "Home of Southern Confucianism · A Model City of Virtue" into its development strategy on July 25, 2018, it officially launched its municipal brand into the world.
The city's logo represents a fist-and-palm salute with two hands folded, in the form of a greeting. As such, Quzhou is said to place great importance on the virtues of being decorous and courteous.
Nowadays the city is also said to be well on its way to becoming a pilot demonstration zone for China's common prosperity, according to local media reports in September.
In addition, Quzhou has put together a three-year action plan to expand its progress towards becoming a more civilized place to live.
Common prosperity refers to affluence shared by everyone both in material and cultural terms. In particular, it emphasizes that such prosperity does not cover only a few people or parts of the country.

Quzhou put forward a system to build a "stop for pedestrians in crosswalks", "no cigarette butts in public area", "consciously line-up", "use public chopsticks and spoons", "no spitting" and "no psoriasis".
Among its initiatives, the Quzhou Little Jinli volunteer service was established in November 2018. The Little Jinli red scarf volunteer service logo has also become a logo for young pioneers participating in volunteer activities in the city.
In this endeavor, the city has established more than 1,600 volunteer teams and recruited 700,000 volunteers. More than 260 volunteer service stations and 105 worker stations have been upgraded.
Quzhou has also promoted the establishment the national 5A Scenic Spots for the Home of Southern Confucianism and the "Global Holy Land for the Go (Weiqi) Games".
