Quzhou stages song competition to promote city brand
The prefecture-level city of Quzhou, located in East China's Zhejiang province, recently staged a competition for original songs, as part of a wider campaign to raise the profile of the metropolis.
The event was called the 2021 Peak Night of Youth in China · Virtuous Quzhou National College Students' Original Song Competition and it was held at the Shuitingmen historic and cultural block on Oct 18, according to local media reports.
Ten college students, who are young song writers of note, reportedly offered the audience a thrilling variety of original chinoiserie music during the event.
After the organizers started calling for entries in April, they reportedly received a total of more than 2,000 pieces of original music – and a large number of international students from South Korea, the US and Australia also participated, helping to spread the word about "Virtuous Quzhou" to young folks everywhere.
