A 100 kilometer-long relay race for the Quzhou section of the Zhejiang Marathon hit the road in the city of Quzhou, in East China's Zhejiang province at 7 am on Oct 10, according to local media reports.
The event aimed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China or CPC and the Red boat spirit – which highlights the pioneering work, striving spirit and dedication of the CPC.
The relay number-tags of all the runners were from 1921 to 2021, with each runner having his or her own special number.
After the national anthem of the China was played, the runners set off from the former site of the Quxian county Party branch, heading along the Quzhou River, past the Shuitingmen historic and cultural block and other Quzhou landmark buildings.
The Zhejiang Marathon 100 km relay activities involve 10 cities in Zhejiang, each section run by local Party-member runners, traversing the red hot spots of Zhejiang.
