Quzhou city chases prosperity
As a thoroughfare between the four provinces of Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi and Anhui, the city of Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province is aiming to make significant progress in its bid to become a pilot demonstration zone for common prosperity by 2025.
It reportedly plans to do so through high-quality development, according to the latest plenary session of the 7th Quzhou Municipal People's Congress held on July 27.
Tang Feifan, Party secretary of Quzhou, delivered a work report on specific goals relating to urban-rural integration, digital reform and transformation.
The work report goals also included reaching new heights for culture and future community development, as well as its core "big-garden" city development and improving the business environment.
Located in western Zhejiang province in the upper reaches of the Qiantang River, Quzhou has long served as a thoroughfare between the four provinces.
In addition, Quzhou – as a "big-garden" city in Zhejiang – is reportedly strongly adhering to green development, while seeking to improve the quality of life of its residents.
The city has been said to have done particularly well in its economic and social development over the past five years and in achieving major goals set for the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20). It has targeted innovation-driven growth and expanded international cooperation in the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).
By 2025, the income gap between urban and rural residents in Quzhou is projected to shrink. The ability of low-income groups to earn more money and increase their living standards is also expected to significantly improve.
