Quzhou transportation boost puts region on road to riches

The Zhejiang Development and Reform Commission announced the province's major construction projects for the next five years at a press conference held in the provincial capital of Hangzhou in May, according to local media reports.

Quzhou, located in western Zhejiang province in the upper reaches of the Qiantang River, has long been known as a thoroughfare between four provinces: Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, and Anhui. The development of land ports and transportation infrastructure in Quzhou has reached an unprecedented pace.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), the city plans to accelerate the construction of the Quzhou West Railway Station and the Lianhua Railway Station and improve its network of urban hub nodes. Reportedly, Quzhou will carry out renovation and expansion work on the Changshan and Longyou stations and build a comprehensive passenger transport hub connecting cities by railway.

Over the next five years, Zhejiang will add 1,800 kilometers of railway, 700 kilometers of metro lines, and 1,000 km of expressways. The pattern of the urban comprehensive transportation hub in Zhejiang has begun to take shape, the distribution network of the comprehensive transportation hub is being gradually improved, and the capacity of comprehensive traffic connections and conversions has been largely enhanced.
