The dynamic city of Quzhou – located in East China's Zhejiang province – is well on its way to boosting the modernization of its city-area governance by using task force teams, according to local officials.

The prefecture-level city in the west of the province, in the upper reaches of the Qiantang River, has long been known as an important thoroughfare between the provinces of Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi and Anhui.

At the start of the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), Quzhou, has reportedly been exploring the path to realizing its goals on streamlining its governance.

Currently, Quzhou has established a total of 32 task force teams consisting of 260 cadres. In the second half of 2020, the specialized teams promoted 41 major projects above the municipal level and last year the city's fixed asset investment growth rate ranked first in Zhejiang.

The teams' tasks have been divided into four major categories: reform and innovation, project promotion, special work and resolution of historical existing problems. These are expected to be time-consuming and a challenge for the teams to complete.
