The launch of a national original song contest was held in Quzhou on May 31. 

Themed on "Youthful China, a Mode City of Virtue", the event was livestreamed to the world on Xinhua by Quzhou's publicity department, Hunan Broadcasting System and QQ Music.

Yu Junjian, a famous Chinese singer, was the special guest of the competition. He gave a speech at the launch in which he encouraged young people to speak up for their dreams, keep their original intention in music and forge ahead.

At the same time, Yu said that the cultural brand of "beautiful Quzhou's voice" made him see the city's attitude toward culture and music. He said he believes that with the help of music culture, Quzhou would be thriving in the near future.

This year's event aimed to spur the creation of original works of music, support the sustainable development of original and independent musicians and speed up the construction of an incubator base for original music in Quzhou to better promote the city's reputation as "a Model City of Virtue".
