A livestream to celebrate the official opening of Longyou Museum on May 13 attracted over 1.3 million visitors to enjoy online exhibitions and virtually explore the local folk culture of Longyou county in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province.

Longyou Museum, located beside the Lingshan River in the county's urban area, has separate sections dedicated to natural history, historical relics, local folk culture and intangible cultural heritages; it also has a special exhibition hall for Yu Shaosong, the Bao Chenchu art gallery and a hall for temporary exhibitions.

With a collection of nearly 5,000 items, the cultural relics and specimens in the museum are widely varied in range and mainly are chinaware and bronze crafts, four of which are under first grade protection.

Longyou county takes the lead in preservation and management measures for immovable cultural relics and stands in the front of archaeology work and cultural relic preservation in Zhejiang province with seven historical and cultural relics protected at the national level and 34 at the provincial level.

The opening of Longyou museum also marked the start of the provincial campaign for International Museum Day on May 18.
