Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province plans to launch 20 new projects costing a total of 927 million yuan ($132 million) this year in Wushi, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, local media reported on April 7.

The news was released by the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission, which also recently announced Zhejiang's first aid projects in Aksu Prefecture and Alaer county.

Quzhou is expected to allocate 268 million yuan this year to the 20 projects, which involve industrial development, local living standards, and education.

Wushi is a State-level impoverished county. In an effort to eradicate local poverty through industrial upgrading, Quzhou has launched 212 projects and invested 1.93 billion yuan into the county over the past nine years, particularly in the SME industrial parks and fruit processing companies.

In addition to economic assistance, the Xinjiang-aid command in Quzhou has also provided medical assistance to Xinjiang by dispatching medical professionals to the region and helping improve local health care infrastructure.

The Wushi County Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Hospital, which focuses on Uighur medicine (a type of TCM) and Western treatments, was recently established in the region.
