Zheng Xiaolei has been busy fighting the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak in Xingang community, Kecheng district, Quzhou, since the end of January, local media recently reported.

Zheng, the Party secretary and director of Xingang's community commission, is leading five young community officials to help prevent and control the spread of NCP in the community.

Xingang is a newly-established community with a small number of residents. However, as it is situated next to Quzhou Railway Station, most of the residents come from outside the city, making it particularly vulnerable to the virus. Fifteen households in the community have already been asked to self-quarantine in their homes.

At 8:00 am, Zheng was the first community worker to arrive in Xingang, as usual. Half an hour later, she and the community doctor left to visit the Dong family, which had been in quarantine in their home for 14 days.

After taking the temperatures of all family members, the doctor told the family that their quarantine had concluded.

At 9:00 am, Zheng knocked on the door of another quarantined man and asked if he had taken his hypotensor in time – a medicine which Zheng had bought for the man after visiting several pharmacies downtown.

At half past 12, Zheng treated herself with a bowl of instant noodles after visiting most of the community's quarantined households.

At 1:00 pm, Zheng visited a property management company in Xingang to see how its reopening preparations were coming along.

During the inspection, Zheng received a call to attend an urgent subdistrict meeting at 2:00 pm, forcing her to cut her visit short and ask her colleague Chen Qi to take over.

Chen said that many of the community workers in Xingang admire Zheng's work ethic and say she has a gift for community work. She also said that many Xingang residents, young and old, call Zheng "little aunty", a term used by Quzhou natives to refer to a genial and helpful woman.
