Kecheng district in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, sent fruits, vegetables and protective clothes to support Yuhang district in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang, on Feb 11, according to local media reports.

Yuhang and Kecheng are pairing-assistance districts in Zhejiang. As news about food and medical supply shortages in Yuhang reached Kecheng, the local government called for its residents to make donations.

"Yuhang subdistrict is the one that Jiuhua town in Kecheng is required to provide aid to," said Jiang Yuhui, Party secretary of Jiuhua, adding that they wanted to support their partner with homegrown vegetables.

Jiuhua donated 10 tons of vegetables, including bamboo shoots, carrots, and celery, among others. The donations are divided into 1,200 boxes, each of which can support a household for five days.

Twenty tons of tangerines were also sent from Hushua town to Pingyao town and Future Technology Town in Yuhang to support front-line workers and those in medical isolation.

Moreover, Kecheng-based Zhejiang Baiyi Apparel Co Ltd sent 1,000 articles of protective clothing to Yuhang district on the same day.

Knowing the country is in urgent need of medical supplies, Baiyi applied to the local government for permission to produce protective clothes and masks, which it then donated to Yuhang.

"We are grateful to the Kecheng government and residents for their assistance during this critical period. They have helped ease our shortage of food and protective clothes," said a senior official from Yuhang.
