Quzhou announces winners of short video contest
The award ceremony for the first short video competition in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province was held at Lanka Mountain on Jan 11, according to local media reports.
The organizing committee received a total of 371 entries since the competition began on Nov 12 last year.
After fierce competition, nine videos won the Best Short Video Award, Best Director Award, Best Cameraman Award, Best Creative Award, People's Choice Award respectively, while 10 won the Original Short Video Award.
The Best Short Video award, the event's premiere award, went to Accompany, which was created by Xu Yong of local motion picture studio 008.
"My video explores the traditional Chinese culture of filial piety", said Xu, adding that its winning can mainly be attributed to the popularity of Quzhou brand "Home of Southern Confucianism, Model City of Virtue" among local residents.
According to Xu, a mother and her three sons living on the ancient Duze Street left a deep impression on him, which is why he decided to begin recording their daily life.
"Buying baozi for breakfast, buttoning up their mother's coat, washing clothes, sweeping the floor…these are ordinary things the audience can empathize with", said Xu.
The competition was supervised by the Publicity Department of the CPC Quzhou Municipal Committee and organized by the Cyberspace Office of the CPC Quzhou Municipal Committee and Quzhou Daily Media Group.
Quzhou is an ancient city with a history of more than 1,800 years and a civilization history dating back about 9,000 years. In recent years, the city has been pursuing innovative development through its high-tech, e-commerce, and tourism industries.
