The 4th National Mind Games began on Nov 8 in Quzhou, East China's Zhejiang province and will run for 10 days, according to local media reports.

The event, sponsored by the Table Games Management Center of the General Administration of Sports, included five different games – I-go, Chinese chess, international chess, bridge, five-in-a-row, and draughts.

Roughly 3,400 players, coaches and referees from 31 Chinese provinces and Hong Kong attended the games.

Tang Feifan, mayor of Quzhou, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony, saying that as a historic city and birthplace of I-go, Quzhou is the ideal place to host the most influential mind games.

He added that local government will ramp up efforts to offer the best services to all participants.

The National Mind Games Expo, a significant part of the 4th National Mind Games, opened in the city’s Nanhu Convention and Exhibition Center on Nov 9.

The expo attracted more than 200 professional chess organizations, mind game manufacturers, and related tech companies who showcased their latest products in an exhibition area of 100,000 square meters.

The four-day expo featured five pavilions focusing on chess games, the chess industry, mind games, individual experience, and innovative mind game products from home and abroad, respectively.

A variety of other events are expected to be held on the sidelines of the expo, including a Mind Games Development Forum, a mini marathon, a fashion show themed around chess culture, and a special food festival.
