Quzhou in East China's Zhejiang province established sister-city relations with the province of Catanzaro in southern Italy during a ceremony in Shanghai on Nov 5, according to local media reports.

The rich histories and cultures of the two areas have led to many opportunities for exchanges in economy, technology, sports, and tourism, said a staff member from Quzhou's foreign affairs office.

Moreover, Jiangshan and Changshan counties in Quzhou also established sister-city relations with Catanzaro's Lamezia Terme and Soveria Mannelli on the same day, making them the first counties in the city to have overseas sister cities.
