Nanwu village in Jiangshan, a county-level city in Quzhou, Zhejiang province, is famous for the solemn ancestor worship activity.

The ancient activity has been practiced for more than 800 years.

On the third day of the third lunar month, which falls on April 7 this year, offspring of the Yang family in the village will head back to their hometown from all over the country to worship their ancestors.

At 9 am, villagers surnamed Yang will be dressed in traditional yellow clothes to form a large square and then cruise the village while performing dragon dances and carrying sedan chairs.

A dazzling array of other activities will also be available during the event, including exhibitions of intangible cultural heritages, folk culture performances and films projected onto the water.

Nanwu was included in the traditional Chinese villages list in 2013 and is also a renowned historic village in Zhejiang.

The village houses 22 relics and 96 ancient dwellings, of which Yang family's ancestral temple is a key cultural relic under State protection.
